Toro Taxes franchise advisory council FAC: María José Solís

María Jose Solís was born in El Salvador. She arrived in the USA when she was 16 years old and finished high school.

María José received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland while working as a Staff Accountant/Executive Assistant at Myer-Emco, Inc. Her major responsibilities were managing payroll for 175 employees, accounts payable, accounts receivables, daily cash flows, bank reconciliation, and deposits.

In 2007, María José joined the Los Taxes Franchise as one of its pioneer Tax Center owners. María José had no prior experience in taxation, and she increased her clientele database from no clients to close to 2,000. The Franchise recognized Maria Jose’s aggressiveness and commitment to its national initiative and proudly appointed her as its Chief Operations Officer.

In 2012, María José started Negocios.Tax, a national initiative focused on serving Latinx small business owners. In just a few months, Negocios increased its business client database to 120 corporations.

In 2019, Los Taxes merged with Toro Taxes, a Tax Preparation Franchise based on the west coast, becoming the largest Latinx Franchise in the nation. María José has made history with Los Taxes as the First Latinx Franchise of Tax Preparation in the Nation and now, as the Founder & CFO of the Largest Latinx-owned Franchise in any industry.

María José sits on the Board of the Latino Student Fund and the After-School Dance Fund. She also served on the Board of Directors of the MD Hispanic Business Conference, where she was Chairperson.

María José is married to Javier Solis and is the proud mother of Daniela, Clarissa, and Miah. She resides with her family in Rockville, MD.
